Export a backup
- Open Pocket Capsule and go to Settings.
- Under Data, choose Export Data.
- Select where you want to save the JSON file.
The export is not encrypted by Pocket Capsule. Store it somewhere you trust.
Import a backup
- Go to Settings and choose Import Data.
- Select a valid Pocket Capsule JSON backup.
- Review the preview before choosing merge or replace.
Replace Existing Data deletes the current local entries before restoring the selected backup.
Add a widget
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen.
- Choose the option to add a widget.
- Search for Pocket Capsule and select a size.
The widget may show a saved quote and source to anyone who can see your Home Screen.
If something looks wrong
- Close and reopen the App.
- Check that iOS is up to date.
- For a widget issue, remove and add the widget again.
- Before reinstalling, export a backup you can verify.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. The launch version of Pocket Capsule has no account or login.
Can you see my saved entries?
No. Your Pocket Capsule library stays on your device. We only see App content if you choose to send it to us yourself.
Does Pocket Capsule sync between devices?
No. The launch version does not use CloudKit or provide Pocket Capsule syncing. You can manually export and import a backup.
What happens if I delete the App?
Deleting the App will generally remove its local data from that device. Copies may remain in an Apple device or iCloud backup, and exported files remain wherever you saved them.
How do I make a privacy request?
Email privacy@pocketcapsule.app. Privacy rights apply to information we actually hold, such as support correspondence; we cannot access your local library.
